Operating panels are operating elements that have one or more pushbuttons. They are always a design of the integrated home system manufacturer. The operating panels vary with regard to construction and design. Generally they are aesthetic and functional panels with a choice concerning the number of pushbuttons. There are often LEDs in the pushbuttons. They indicate whether or not the underlying function is active.

In certain cases, the operating panels also have a display and/or a temperature sensor. An infrared receiver is sometimes included in the operating panel. Operating panels do not have voltage-free contacts, but are connected directly to a bus system.
