Operating panels are operating elements that have one or more pushbuttons. They are always a design of the integrated home system manufacturer. The operating panels vary with regard to construction and design. Generally they are aesthetic and functional panels with a choice concerning the number of pushbuttons. There are often LEDs in the pushbuttons. They indicate whether or not the underlying function is active.
Figure 28: This Triton by Busch-Jaeger contains 5 double buttons (press left and right), a temperature sensor, a display and an IR receiver. (Illustration source: Busch-Jaeger)
In certain cases, the operating panels also have a display and/or a temperature sensor. An infrared receiver is sometimes included in the operating panel. Operating panels do not have voltage-free contacts, but are connected directly to a bus system.
