Advantages and disadvantages of decentralised systems

Advantages of decentralised systems

  • The entry price for a small installation is low. You can start with a power supply, an input module and an output module. No expensive master is required.
  • When a component fails, in principle it will not affect the operation of the other components.

Disadvantages of decentralised systems

  • Expansions are generally more expensive than with a centralised system, as every component must carry the necessary intelligence.
  • Specific components have to be installed in the system in order to execute certain functions.
