Energy efficiency is seen by many as the solution for energy security and for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, improving energy efficiency has been a constant in (recent) history.

The worrying trend is that we may be running out of efficiency improvement potential, undermining our path towards sustainable energy use and limiting our scope for action against climate change. The problem is that energy efficiency is “invisible” and difficult to measure. Some questions that will be addressed in this webinar:

  • Have we run out of efficiency improvement potential? If not, what technical or market potential is still available?
  • Why is energy efficiency so hard to pursue?
  • Is it more costly to invest in energy supply or energy efficiency?
  • What should we worry about? (energy consumption, population growth, life style improvement)
  • What have we learned so far?

During the webinar, an introductory presentation will offer a perspective on energy efficiency, energy consumption and other trends. This will be followed by a discussion among participants.
