Choice of harmonic filters for high voltage networks with distributed nonlinear load

By L Kovernikova

The traction load is nonlinear, distributed over the network and its capacity is rather large. In the connection points of traction load to the public network the nonsinusoidal of voltage exceeds the standards established in Russia. The centralized normalization is an efficient method of decreasing of nonsinusoidality of voltage in the nodes connecting traction substation to the network. This paper suggests an algorithm for the search of nodes in which the filters should be installed and for calculation of filter’s parameters for several harmonics at a centralized normalization. The work of the algorithm is illustrated by the example of choosing the filters for traction substations of the railway.
