The ChristophorusHaus is a 2100 m2 multifunctional building located in Austria, and is constructed following the passive house philosophy. Its heat demand is 15 kWh/m2.a, and total primary energy consumption (including electricity) is 49 kWh/m2.a. Compared to a conventional building, it saves each year 275 MWh of primary energy and 75 tonne CO2. The building uses 1000 tonne of wood for its construction, and stores 350 tonnes of CO2, providing an effective carbon storage solution (at least if the wood used is additional to forest stock).
