Lloyds join the ranks
By Hans Nilsson / Published on Fri, 2007-03-09 08:00We have earlier brought up the issue about insurance companies and climate change on these pages. Now the chairman of Lloyds speaks up and verifies the magnitude of the problem his industry is facing. We are talking billions of dollars here.
He points his finger at governments but maybe he should remember that the insurance industry has traditionally been very active in finding solutions also. And indeed some of them still are, like Zurich who are involved in the concept-design "House of the Future". But pointing at the U.S. government may be productive. Al Gore has said that the next U.S. president will sign the Kyoto-protocol 15 minutes after the inauguration. It might happen even earlier!?
