China aims to replace low performing coal-fired power

The Chinese government is struggling with the fact that the goals for energy efficiency and environment have not been sufficiently met. On the contrary in some aspects the situation has deteriorated.
There are however concrete plans especially phase out and replace small inefficient coal-fired power stations. This would result in that 50 GW (8%) of the existing power is replaced by the end of the decade.
The standard of these stations smaller than 100 MW each, which is appr. 30% of all coal-fired installations, is of course varying but roughly polluting up to 4 times as much as the replacements.
