It is obvious that the temperature has risen since their meeting in Gleneagles and expectations are quite high before the process then started, and that will be reported next year in Japan. The agenda is (presently) totally opaque.
Most eyes are on the US and it is certainly not easy to read the the message from George Bush. The words are right, but what do they mean? Some US commentators say that it shows a change towards green, but others say that it is quite the contrary. Financial Times Financial Times denounced the strategy entirely as just a way to play for more time and, maybe worse, trying to establsih a second track for negotiations and claim a leadership hitherto not shown.
