The subject of extra losses in transformers due to harmonic currents is covered. Finally, a software tool 'Traloss' is introduced to support TCO evaluations.

By Paul Mursell / Published on Fri, 2007-10-26 17:20 Could not view web cast as MOD PC security does not allow flash so you may have covered this, I did view the minute lecture. I am currently reviewing the use of natural and synthetic esters as dielectric fluids and am trying to develop an LCA comparison for mineral oil, synthetic ester, natural ester, silicone oil and cast resin. Losses are straight forward, installation also, maintenance and disposal are the problems. In the UK we predominantly use free breathing transformers and I would like to move to hermetically sealed, but cannot find any guidance on lifetime maintenance costs comparison and disposal. Any ideas? paul M
