Personal responsibility for carbon emissions.

In the UK, there are several projects that exercise the idea of personalised carbon emission rights. One of them has extensive information and testing material to check how and if people would be able to handle such a responsibility and to trade with the rights.

The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce - commonly known as the RSA - has, in a poll, found that nearly 80% of the people think they could reduce the carbon emissions given such a role on the market! So now there is set up an experimental site for virtual trading and to take part in the RSA "5 a year" carbon challenge – to try to achieve an annual carbon usage or 5 tonnes of carbon or less.
