Eco-sheet: 1 kWh generated using different energy sources
By Sergio Ferreira / Published on Mon, 2008-09-22 13:04How sustainable is a kWh?
What is the best technology to produce it?
These questions are often asked and the answers are not clear-cut, as there are a lot of variables.
Therefore, Leonardo ENERGY has produced this eco-sheet to help clarifying the issue. The environmental burden of generating one kWh from 7 different energy sources is quantified. It shows that there is no silver bullet solution, but there are advantages to explore.
Much more information could be added to this initiative. We welcome your comments and suggestions.

Electricity labelling?
By Sergio Ferreira / Published on Tue, 2008-09-30 9:12It is important to inform consumers about the environmental impacts of the products they purchase. Labelling schemes are, in fact, used successfully for a number of products in the market.
In a liberalized electricity market, would a labelling scheme for electricity be an added value? or would it shift consumer preferences towards greener power?
The states of Texas and California have adopted such schemes, where simple labels on the invoices inform the consumers regarding the environmental impacts inherent to the power they are purchasing. (Examples bellow)

Simple but highly relevant...
By Sergio Ferreira / Published on Mon, 2009-02-02 10:08This eco-sheet, however simple, continues to draw interest from across the globe sustaining the claim that there is a lack of (simple, easy to read) information on sustainable energy.
It has been recently published also at the EarthToys Magazine reaching over 100,000 readers per month.
