Electronic ballasts are not good for outdoor applications (1)
By Stefan Fassbinder / Published on Fri, 2008-07-25 09:40If fluorescent lamps fail two by two, as pairs, then it is most likely not the lamps that failed but the ballast. Electronic ballasts are often made in a way as to feed two lamps from one ballast, which with magnetic ballasts is only possible for some smaller lamps in the range up to 18W. At this small railway station it could be observed how within some two years twins of lamps failed every few months, until now, summer 2008, only two lamps remain operational. We are waiting and will keep you updated.
