Human Exposure to Power Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields inside a Very High Voltage Power Station

By C Munteanu et al

This paper presents the electrical and magnetic field distribution during steady-state operation in a recently rehabilitated 400/220kV voltage power station, taking into account the arrangement of the on-site equipment. The experimental measurement values are compared with the public and professional electromagnetic field exposure limits imposed by the EU 2004/40/EC Directive, and by the local legislation. Colour maps of the electrical and magnetic field distribution are presented in order to easily locate the high intensity field zones inside the power station. The main conclusions and proposed measures to be taken are at the end of the paper.
