IEA Energy Technology Essentials – Carbon Capture and Storage

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has recently initiated a series of “Energy Technology Essentials”. Regularly published, these four-page briefings offer concise updates on the different technologies for producing, transporting and using energy.

The first issue refers to CO2 Capture and Storage and addresses the process, cost, status, potential and barriers for technologies directed at storing CO2. A concise and objective picture of the current developments is drawn. Although a costly technology, a number of projects are running world wide, and global R&D budget is increasing.
