Pascal Lenormand, born 1975, is a generalist engineer working both at AERE, a consulting company specialized in energetic efficiency, building quality and renewable energy, and as an independent consultant in bioclimatic conception. AERE was founded in 2001 by Anne Rialhe to propose other options to the current energy and environmental situation, in order to save natural resources and environment quality.

Pascal Lenormand also has a 6-year experience in the international sport goods industry, where he worked as an expert in human thermal comfort. The relations between the end user’s expectations on service and the corresponding technical solution is a central problematic throughout his work.

Schipman, Kurt

Kurt Schipman received his M.Sc. degree from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) in 1993 and his Ph.D. degree from Staffordshire University (U.K.) in 1997. Arjen. G. Jongepier received his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Delft University of Technology in 1989. He graduated in 1996 on the application of artificial neural networks in electrical power systems, in close cooperation with KEMA. He then worked for the Dutch power pool (SEP) in the area of business process reengineering, and was heavily involved I the restructuring of the Dutch power sector. His early career was as an IT and Management Consultant, much of this with Ernst & Young Management Consultancy (in its various guises). He spend some formative years at the European Space Agency, and was close to upstream oil and gas projects in the N Sea and Arabian Gulf. After completing a PhD in offshore engineering at the University of Edinburgh, Alastair went on to work in large scale power generation at Mitsui Babcock Energy Limited. Subsequently, while working at Scottish Water on energy efficiency and renewable energy, Alastair formulated the Flexitricity concept of aggregated load management and generation control. He is also a part-time professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, engaged with Condition Assessment of Electrical Infrastructures. He obtained a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. degree in Technical Sciences, both from the Eindhoven University of Technology. After his Ph.D. he worked as an associate professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology for 14 years.

Daniel Kirschen received his Electrical and Mechanical Engineer's degree from the Free University of Brussels in Belgium and his Master's and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He worked on the development of software for utility control centres for Control Data Corporation and Siemens. Since 1994 he has been at The University of Manchester (previously UMIST) where he is Professor of Electrical Energy Systems and head of the electrical energy and power systems group. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and the IET as well as a member of Sigma Xi.
