A new survey issued in the Eurobarometer investigates the attitudes of the Europeans to the environment. The survey is interesting and encouraging reading. The Europeans are distinctly prepared to rise to their responsibility towards environment and climate, and for a sustainable future. Not less than two thirds say that they consider that environmental protection to be prior to competitiveness in the industry. There is of course differences between the nations, but not as much as one could expect.
The conclusion drawn from this (and other) questions by the Eurobarometer is that the global nature of the environmental problems have permeated the Europeans. A fair conclusion since there is a consistency with the responses this time and a similar study made 4 years ago.

With increasing frequency, the European Commission issues Eurobarometer reports on energy issues, such as the latest 'Attitudes on issues related to EU Energy Policy'. This latest flash Eurobarometer gives a very clear and consistent signal accross the European Union on a number of energy issues.

Europeans are not worried
about energy but unemployment, crime and healthcare according to the latest poll in the European Barometer that focuses on attitudes to energy technologies.

But when it comes to action energy efficiency improvements have won the hearts and minds of people overboth fossil and nuclear.

In this Eurobarometer report, released January 24, almost half of citizens surveyed expressed a preference for the development of solar power to reduce Europe's dependency on imported energy resources, and 41% are in favour of research for advanced energy technologies. To use energy more efficiently, citizens want to receive more information from governments, as well as tax incentives.

In this Eurobarometer report, released January 24, almost half of citizens surveyed expressed a preference for the development of solar power to reduce Europe's dependency on imported energy resources, and 41% are in favour of research for advanced energy technologies.To use energy more efficiently, citizens want to receive more information from governments, as well as tax incentives.
But more than half of citizens do not want to pay more for sustainable energy, and the group willing to pay a premium predominantly wants the premium to be below 10%.
