Innovative Power Quality metering technology

In France, an important contribution to sustainable development is being made in the form of improved control of energy consumption. EDF (Electricity de France) is installing power quality meters on the national grid to monitor conformity to the EN50160 standard for power quality.

In Project ‘MAGIQ’, data will be gathered by a network of power quality analysers and processed using software enabling the automation of each task.

With this power quality analyser, EDF is offering a solution for improving the quality of the measured points. The collaboration with Legrand is based on a continuous evolution of the standards and methods of analysis.

For those in the energy industry, requests for power quality monitoring are appearing everywhere:

• Power utilities;
• Onsite generation;
• Major factories;
• Data servers, central banks and key office buildings.

The project is a symbol of reliability, a new way to satisfy customers and also a step towards sustainable development. Indeed, the final aim is the drastic reduction of the portion of energy which is not transformed into useful energy.

Alpes Technologies, a group brand of Legrand, is presenting this solution for analysing the quality of electrical supply networks according to the standards currently in force, EN50160 and IEC61000-4-30.
